Expand Your Network with Linksys Velop WiFi Repeater
A Linksys Velop mesh WiFi system has extender or repeater nodes that help you get seamless network coverage in hard-to-reach areas. The terms repeater and extender can be used interchangeably.
Let us guide you through the installation steps for Linksys Velop as WiFi repeater. We have covered the instructions for Linksys smart WiFi setup of Velop extender using an Android device here. Here we begin.
Linksys Velop Mesh Extender Setup Via Velop App
Before you Begin:
You should have an existing Velop network with a parent node. You are going to add a new node to the mesh network. This will work as an WiFi repeater or extender. Make note of the WiFi name, and network key (WiFi password) as you will require them during the setup process.
If you haven’t installed the Linksys app then get it done now. In case the app is already installed then check for updates. Ensure to use an up-to-date app to carry out the process to avoid complaining about the Linksys app not working problem.
Check that the Linksys Velop is powered on and you have an active internet connection to configure the extender smoothly.
Now follow these steps:
- Connect your phone to the Velop’s WiFi.
- Run the app.
- Enter the login details to sign in.
- On the dashboard, tap on the Menu icon in the top-left corner.
- Select Set Up a New Product.
- Now, tap on Add Another Node to (Your Existing WiFi SSID).
- Select To extend my WiFi with a new child node.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone when prompted. This is an essential step.
- Plug in the Velop Extender.
- As soon as the light turns solid purple, tap Next.
- When the light blinks in purple, select Yes, it’s Blinking Purple.
In case the light does not blink purple, select the second option that says No, It’s Not Blinking Purple. You will be navigated through the troubleshooting steps.
- Use Spot Finder on the app to find a suitable location to place the extender.
- Create a name for the extender node. You can select from the given options or add a new name.
- Follow on-screen prompts to further configure settings and you’re done.
This way you can easily set up the Linksys Velop WiFi extender node using the app. Upon setup, you can visit the main dashboard to check the settings. Follow similar steps to configure any other extender node if you wish to.
Conclusion
That’s all about how you can install Linksys Velop as WiFi repeater or extender. The additional Velop node works as an extender to expand the existing network coverage. If the extender setup fails, perform a Linksys Velop reset of the extender by pressing its Reset button for some time. Thereafter, follow the instructions for setup once again. It is expected that your Velop mesh system is all set to level up your networking experience with seamless WiFi signals everywhere in the home.
